Hello, I'm the developer of Shelto

A passionate outdoor enthusiast and developer who has built an app for the community.

Stan - Shelto Developer

My Story

As an enthusiastic cyclist and hiker, I've always found it difficult to find the best routes and hidden places. The existing apps were often too commercially oriented or didn't have the features I wanted as an outdoor enthusiast.

That's how the idea for Shelto came about - an app developed by the community for the community. I wanted to create a solution that truly addresses the needs of outdoor enthusiasts while remaining independent from large companies or investors.

"Shelto is a one-person project. There's no big company or investors behind it. Every line of code, every feature, and every decision comes directly from me - a developer who is passionate about being outdoors himself."

Developing Shelto is more than just a job for me - it's a passion. I spend my free time developing new features, listening to community feedback, and continuously improving the app. Every user who uses Shelto is part of this journey and helps make the app what it is today.

Why Community-Driven?

I firmly believe that the best products are created when they're developed by the people who use them. That's why Shelto is completely community-driven. Every idea, every wish, and every piece of feedback flows directly into development.

No investors, no shareholders, no marketing departments - just a developer building an app for the community. This means every decision is made with the goal of creating the best experience for outdoor enthusiasts, not to maximize profits.

Why is there a pricing model?

As a solo developer, I bear all the costs for Shelto myself. That might sound simple, but the ongoing costs add up quickly: server costs for maps and POI data, API fees for routing services, development tools, app store fees, and much more.

In addition to the technical costs, I invest several hours every day in developing new features, fixing bugs, and improving the app. This is time I'm happy to invest, but it's also valuable.

"Unfortunately, the costs add up significantly. That's why I need to charge something to keep Shelto running and developing. But every cent flows directly back into the app - into better servers, new features, and an even better experience for you."

The free model remains available forever - there are no hidden costs or sudden price increases. The supporter features are an opportunity for the community to support development while gaining access to advanced features.

Everyone who chooses a paid plan not only supports the technical infrastructure but also enables me to invest more time in development and make Shelto what it can become.
